My painting 'Lady with open heart' represents the hope and the joy of living. This is my favorite Quilt-like painting. The distorted figure shows how the beauty within us comes from our imperfections. The designs and patterns are stitched together in a colorful quilt like painting inspired by my grandmother. She lived life fully, embracing everyday and everyone with a giving attitude, exuberance, and love. People like her have taught me, despite adversities, to face the world with grace and an open heart.

Mariana Barnes is a self taught, award winning artist who has been painting since 1987. Her unique and recognizable style has appeared in numerous San Francisco Bay Area galleries, publications and venues, including TV shows, one of which “Talk Art: Mosaic patterns of life” also aired in Manhattan, New York. She has also exhibited her work in Los Angeles and Sonoma, California, and has collectors from around the US, Argentina and Australia. She has also heard from fans in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Brazil. She is represented by KALEID Gallery in San Jose, CA and the Pacific Art League Gallery in Palo Alto, CA....
